Part-Time Preschool Teacher (Church Setting)
Position Type: Part-Time
Hours: 4–5 hours per week
Schedule: Sundays, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (plus 1 hour paid lesson preparation time)
Pay: $15 per hour
Location: First Christian Church in Great Bend
Position Overview
We are seeking a kind, enthusiastic, and dependable Preschool Teacher to join our church
team on Sunday mornings. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with young
children and is passionate about creating a safe, welcoming, and joyful learning environment.
Consistency is essential—our children and families thrive when they see the same caring
teacher each week.
This position is especially well-suited for an individual who is currently studying to become a
teacher or pursuing a career in education. It is a meaningful opportunity that looks excellent on
a résumé while providing extra income and valuable classroom experience.
Schedule & Hours
● Teaching Time:
○ 10:00 a.m. service (2 hours total teaching across both services)
○ 11:00 a.m. service
● Paid Prep & Cleanup:
○ 30 minutes paid time before class begins
○ 30 minutes paid time after class for cleanup
● Additional Paid Time:
○ 1 hour per week for lesson preparation at home
Key Responsibilities
● Teach and care for preschool-aged children during Sunday morning services
● Plan ahead and deliver engaging, age-appropriate, and positive curriculum
● Create a safe, nurturing, and welcoming classroom environment
● Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
● Build trust and consistency with children and families by being present every Sunday
● Communicate kindly and professionally with church staff and parents
● Prepare classroom materials and clean up after each class
Ideal Candidate Qualities
● Warm, personable, and genuinely enjoys working with young children
● Reliable, responsible, and able to commit to consistent Sunday attendance
● Enthusiastic about teaching and excited to plan engaging lessons
● Kind, patient, and positive in attitude
● Organized and prepared
● Strong classroom management skills
● Currently pursuing (or interested in pursuing) a degree or career in education (preferred,
but not required)
Requirements
● Must pass a background check (required for the safety of our children)
● Must be 18 years of age or older
● Experience working with young children preferred
● Ability to arrive prepared and on time each Sunday morning
● Comfortable teaching a positive Christian curriculum
